Czech Heritage Foundation is honored to have as our
Parade Grand Marshal Cedar Rapids native, Pam Lewis
She is the granddaughter of Czech Immigrants, and grew up in a home
where Czech was regularly spoken.
Owned and operated a business in Czech Village for more than 35 years.
She promoted and sponsored Czech and Slovak history and culture,
from her store.
She and her husband are regular volunteers at The National Czech &
Slovak Museum & Library.
In an effort to gain greater understanding of the culture, she and her
husband moved to the Czech Republic, where Pam taught at Palacký
University for more than seven years.
Pam has worked diligently, to make Czech Village successful, including
serving on the Czech Heritage Foundation Board, in numerous capacities,
The Main Street Board, The SMIDD commission, as the President, Vice
President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Czech Village Association, and
many different committees to protect and promote the area.
Even though her store is closed, you will still see her around, dressed in her
traditional folk costume and promoting Czech Heritage.
